Szeretnek bemasolni valamit, ami ugyan nem a Flames csapataval kapcsolatos, hanem a managementtel. Ken King a Flames elnoke egy rendkivuli emberke (durvan 2 m mags es ugy 120 kg korul:idiota::idiota:). Volt alkalma nekem is talalkozni, beszelgetni vele (tobbszor is), es ennyire kozvetlen, humoros felso-vezetot keveset ismerek. A Flames szurkolok imadjak... I thought I'd wait for a non-game day to start this thread.

I've read numerous stories of encounters with Ken King at Flames games, around Calgary, etc... and all the stories have the same theme: Ken King is an awesome guy. This weekend, I got to experience what a great guy Ken King truly is... in Vegas.

I was in Vegas for my bachelor party this past weekend. One of the priorities was to get the massive group of 20 guys to a bar to watch the Flames-Canucks game. We found our way to the ESPN SportsZone after calling ahead to (a) make sure they were showing it and (b) make sure there were seats available. When we got there the hostess told us that there were seats available, but we'd all have to be split up - a group of 10 and two groups of 5. Bummer.

As my groomsmen dealt with that situation I spotted a group of Flames jerseys upstairs and made my way up there to say hi. Upon return, the hostess told us that "we're in luck and that Ken King was going to hook us up." Sure enough, Ken King was walking towards us with a big grin on his face. It turns out he was in Vegas for his daughter's wedding and that group of Flames jerseys upstairs was his group. They only had 10 people watching the game, but occupied a huge section capable of accommdating all of my group.

So, Ken King offered to move from his essentially private area to the downstairs common area to allow all of my friends to sit together. We thanked him profusely and went upstairs. Soon after, he came up to hang out, watch a bit of the game, take pictures, etc... Waitresses followed with rounds of beer and appetizers for 20 courtesy of Ken. Ken came up a couple times throughout the game to check on us and stopped by before he left. Even better, when one of my friends introduced himself as an Oiler fan, Ken shook his hand and then quickly picked him up into a body slam position and took a couple of shots at the fact that he was an Oiler fan.

Anyways, I always liked hearing stories about Ken King and what a great guy he is... so I thought I'd share. Oh, and when I asked him if he ever followed CP and what he thought, he said he frequents the site and likes to hear what a lot of "educated and enthusiastic Flames fans think" about trades, games, signings, and Saddledome experiences.

So, if Ken is reading this, thanks for the beers and putting my stupid Oiler-fan friend in his place
